Session
We face a paradox in security leadership: vulnerabilities must be mitigated AND embraced. Security vulnerability is the state of being susceptible to harm, injury, or weakness that could be exploited. In leadership, however, personal, and emotional vulnerability is seen as an asset, and even critical to effective leadership, a fact often ignored in security training.
As security leaders, we need to promote understanding of both concepts. Leaders who understand and embrace the paradox of vulnerability build better teams and run better programs, ultimately improving the security industry. We need to incorporate this concept earlier in the training cycle for managers so they can become the next generation of leaders.
